Problem...
A utility company client of one of my clients was to be acquired.
25% of this lawyer's work came from this company and he and his firm knew no
one at the acquiring corporation.
Solution...
I suggested a quick look at the acquiring company's board of
directors, identifying one or two who might be employed by our firm's other
clients, ask for an immediate introduction to the GC and head of litigation
for the acquiring corp. and show their stuff. He is now lead counsel for
both companies' litigation in their specialty areas.
